„The Militia of the Immaculata” as a School of Spiritual Life

Abstract
The article analyzes the Militia of the Immaculata as a school of spiritual life, presenting its origins, purpose, spirituality, formation of members, and apostolic mission. Founded by Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe in 1917, the Militia of the Immaculata emerged as a response to the spiritual and cultural challenges of the early twentieth century, yet it remains highly relevant in the contemporary context. Particular attention is given to the Christocentric and Marian character of MI spirituality, based on the concept of total consecration to the Immaculate Virgin as a path leading to full union with Christ. The article demonstrates that formation within the Militia of the Immaculata is integral and dynamic, combining sacramental life, personal prayer, spiritual reading, and ongoing self-formation with active apostolic engagement. Apostolic activity is presented as contemplative-active in nature, encompassing both external evangelizing actions and spiritual offerings such as prayer and sacrifice. The study concludes by emphasizing the enduring relevance of the Militia of the Immaculata as a spiritual proposal that effectively responds to the challenges faced by the contemporary Church.Keywords:

Rev. Przemysław Stanisław Głuszek, PhD, is a priest of the Diocese of Legnica. He graduated from the Major Seminary in Legnica in 2018 and was ordained to the priesthood on 19 May 2018. In 2020, he commenced doctoral studies at the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Wrocław. His doctoral dissertation, prepared within the seminar on the spirituality of priesthood and consecrated life under the supervision of Bishop Prof. Jacek Kiciński, CMF, is entitled Simplicity, the Experience of Misunderstanding, and Madness in the Life and Activity of Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe. Since 2023, he has been serving as a parochial vicar at the Parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Chojnów. In the same year, he was appointed diocesan moderator of the Eucharistic Youth Movement.
